GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Trinidad State College women's wrestling team sent a group of wrestlers to Colorado Mesa over the weekend to compete in the Maverick Open inside Brownson Arena.

Dalilah Aguayo (Fr., Arvada, Colo.) led the way for the Trojans after picking up a 5th place finish in the 110 lbs bracket. Aguayo fell to Sophia Cornish of Fort Hays State by tech fall, 10-0 in the second round before defeated Liliana Voakes of Ottawa AZ by a fall just 1 minute and 41 seconds into the match.

In the next round, Aguayo had a tough matchup against Katelyn Faczak of Adams before taking down Isabella Cruz of Texas Women's to place 5th overall.

Hancock and Trujillo faced each other in the second round of the 117 bracket after both wrestlers dropped their first round matches. Trujillo took the match by a tech fall, 11-0 and moved on to face Genesis Diaz of Utah Tech.

Trujillo defeated Diaz by fall just 2 minutes and 44 seconds into the match before falling to host team Colorado Mesa's Marjorie McDaniel.

Yesenia Morales (Fr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) picked up wins against Terianne Skaggs of Ottawa AZ and Savannah Rode before falling to Emma Mangen of the Mavericks.

The Trojans will head up to Goodland, Kansas for a dual against Fort Hays Tech Northwest this coming Friday.
