Bustos Resigns as Trojans Volleyball Coach

TRINIDAD, Colo. – Trinidad State College Director of Athletics Mike Salbato announced that volleyball coach Karli Bustos has resigned from her position at the college to become Eastern New Mexico University's head volleyball coach.

Bustos completed her fifth season at the helm the TSC Trojans after joining the program in August 2020 and leaves with an overall record of 63-91, three straight trips to the Region 9 volleyball championships, and two consecutive Region 9 Beach Volleyball titles (2023 & 2024).

"Karli came in and took the program over during the COVID season. It was a difficult time, and we had been near the bottom of the Region 9 standings for a couple of seasons. In five years, she turned that completely around and made the Trojans legitimate contenders for a region title. Add that to her two Region 9 beach volleyball titles and her team's success in the classroom and you can see why we will miss her greatly." Salbato stated.

This past season, Bustos led the Trojans to an overall 23-10 record which was the best winning percentage in program history at 70%. The Trojans were also ranked in the NJCAA National Polls for the first time in program history as the Trojans reached #17 in the country.

Bustos was the 7th coach in program history and finished third in overall wins (63) behind Holden (257) and McGill (96). She also finishes with the second-highest career winning percentage at 41% behind Holden (51%).

"Coach Bustos did an amazing job here at TSC and we wish her the best as she moves on to coach at Eastern New Mexico." Salbato continued.

A search for the next head coach will begin immediately.
