CHEYENNE, Wyo. – The Trinidad State College women's volleyball team wrapped up play at the Cheyenne Invitational with a 2-2 record and wins over Central Arizona and Seward County.
GAME 1: No. 19 Eastern Florida State 3, Trinidad State 1 (25-14, 12-25, 13-25, 25-27)
The Trojans tallied 47 kills in the match off a .163 hitting percentage, 8 serving aces, and 9 blocks. Jaedyn Fuqua (Fr., Albuquerque, N.M.) registered a 13 kill-15 dig double-double while teammate Ellie Ames (So., Delta, Colo.) added 10 kills and 2 blocks. Libero Jordan Garcia (So., Albuquerque, N.M.) tallied 17 digs for TSC.
GAME 2: No. 18 Colby 3, Trinidad State 1 (20-25, 25-20, 13-25, 23-25)
Fuqua led the Trojans with a 13 kill-11 dig double-double while adding 2 blocks while teammate Amya Speller (So., Monument, Colo.) added 7 kills and 5 blocks and Deniz Yıleri (So., Adana, Turkey) added 6 kills.
GAME 3: Trinidad State 3, Central Arizona 1 (25-22, 25-20, 23-25, 25-14)
The Trojans jumped out to an early 2-0 lead over the Vaqueros before dropping the third set 23-25. A commanding 25-14 win in set 4 game the Trojans a 3-1 win.
Fuqua posted her third consecutive double-double with 13 kills and 13 digs off a .280 hitting percentage while Ames added 8 kills, 3 blocks, and 7 serving aces. Speller added 7 kills and Allie Bishop (Fr., Twin Falls, Idaho) tallied 6 kills of her own.
GAME 4: Trinidad State 3, Seward County 0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-19)
The Trojans closed out the Invitational with a dominating 3-0 sweep over Seward County. The Trojans dominated at the net, posting a .252 hitting percentage, 45 kills, and 12 blocks as a team.
In the match, Speller led the team with 12 kills off a .417 hitting percentage while adding 3 blocks. Yıleri posted her first double-double of the season with 10 kills and 10 digs. Garcia tallied 8 digs in the back row while teammates Myrah Abdallah-Boehm (So., Bayfield, Colo.) and Mia Espinoza (Fr., El Paso, Texas) added 6 digs each.
The Trojans return to action this coming weekend as it hosts the Southern Colorado Classic beginning on Friday at 10 AM and Saturday at 8 AM inside Scott Gym. Teams participating will be Clarendon, Eastern Wyoming, Frank Phillips, North Platte, Otero, RV Trinidad State, and No. 20 Western Nebraska.
