Trojans fall to Rattlers

(TRINIDAD, Colo.) – The Lady Trojans came out flat on Wednesday afternoon against Region IX South leading Otero Junior College and ended up falling at home by a score of 4-0. It was TSJC's first game in almost two weeks and the rust showed early. The loss pushed the Trojans into third place behind Northeastern in the final standings for the conference.

On a beautiful fall afternoon at Los Niños Park, the Trojans started slow and got behind after a couple of goals by Chloe Craig in the early minutes. The Rattlers would add another, a drive right up the middle of the pitch by Janae Reyes, to head into the half 3-0. Trinidad controlled the game better in the second half, getting more possession and shots-on-goal. They were unable to hit the back of the net however. Otero added a late goal, a hat-trick completing penalty kick by Craig, to make the final score 4-0.

The Trojans are 5-7 on the season and they finished in third behind Northeastern due to the tie-breaker rules. This means the Trojans will travel next weekend for a first-round playoff game in Sheridan, Wyoming. Look for game details as they become available.
