Trojans fall in home opener

(TRINIDAD, Colo.) – A slow start doomed the Lady Trojans in their 2017 home opener at Los Niños Park in Trinidad on Thursday afternoon. Utah State University Eastern, a junior college out of Region 18, scored in the first minute of the game and never looked back defeating TSJC 3-0.

The Eagles scored almost directly off of the opening kickoff when McKenna Wiscombe took and assist from Taryn Pritchett and placed it into the net. The Trojans responded with some good runs, their best chance to score coming off the boot of Jamila Ashley which missed just to the right of net, but were unable to pull even. Just prior to the half Morgan Hall doubled the Eagle lead beating the defense down the middle on a long ball. USE scored again late on a penalty kick to make the final 3-0.

The Trojans are 4-4 on the season and will hit the road on Saturday for their last road trip of the regular season when they face Western Wyoming CC in Rock Springs, Wyoming. They will then return home for five straight home games starting with Western Nebraska on Friday, September 29 at 1 p.m.
