GOLDEN, Colo. – Trinidad State College men's wrestling squad sent a group of its Trojan wrestlers to compete in Sunday's Mines Rookie Open hosted by Colorado School of Mines at the Steinhauer Fieldhouse.

The Trojans had strong performances across the board with four wrestlers taking podium finishes.

Jay Everhart (Fr., Aurora, Colo.) landed a 3rd-place finish at 125 lbs after beating Julian Marquez (Unattached) in the opening round by decision, 11-4. Everhart moved on to face Mikey Medina (Unattached).

Everhart dominated to a major decision win by the score of 18-8. Everhart then defeated Marcus Najera of New Mexico Highlands to move on to the semifinal match before falling to Tanner Stone of Colorado Mesa by decision, 13-9.

In the third-place match, Everhart defeated Zachary Bates (Western Colorado) by medical forfeit.

Levi Miller (So.,Denver, Colo.) snagged a 4th-place finish at 184 lbs after two dominating wins over Timber Parlin from Colorado School of Mines by fall  2 minutes and 45 seconds and Cassius Garcia from NJC by tech. fall, 15-0.

In the semifinal match, Miller fell short against Gunner Cramblett of Air Force Prep before falling to Hunter Richardson of Western Colorado by medical forfeit.

Also at 184 lbs, LaDanian Gordon (So.,Aurora, Colo.) finished in 7th place after taking down Everett Peck of ort Hays State in the opening round. Gordon fell to Banks Love in Western Wyoming before taking down Logan Corona (Unattached) by tech fall, 16-0. Gordon fell to Timber Parlin of host school Colorado School of Mines in the 7th-place match.

Jose Rosales (Fr.,Denver, Colo.) also had as strong outing at 197 lbs with a 7th-place finish. Rosales had wins against Ricardo Castillo (Unattached) and Eddie Nelson of Colorado Mesa before falling to Austin Richens of Northwest College.

The Trojans will be back in action this coming Friday with a dual at Fort Hays Tech Northwest in Goodland, Kan.
