Trojans defeat Lamar 67-59

Trinidad State picked up their second Region 9 conference win of the year Tuesday night in Lamar, Colorado defeating the Lopes 67-59. The Trojans are in fourth in the region standings at the mid-point of the season, behind WNCC, McCook and NJC and ahead of Otero and Lamar.

Trinidad got a big game from Evette Lansing, 21 points and six rebounds, to lead the way in the contest. TSC started hot, leading 8-2 at the first timeout, but cooled off quickly and saw Lamar jump out to a 17-12 lead at the end of the first quarter. Trinidad stayed close for the rest of the half and only trailed by a pair at the break. The Trojans would score early in the second half to regain the lead and would never relinquish it, holding on for the 67-59 win. Mya Williams was strong at the line down the stretch to make sure TSC held on late.

Vega Lopez continued to dominate on the glass, pulling down 13 boards to go with five assists, two steals and nine points.
