Vigil signs with Trojan Basketball

(TRINIDAD, Colo.) – Destinee Vigil recently signed her letter of intent to join the Lady Trojan basketball team this coming fall. Vigil, a 5'5 guard that last played for Valencia High School in Los Lunas, New Mexico, was selected All-District for her junior season. That year she helped the Jaguars to a 23-7 record and a spot in the New Mexico State 5A Quarterfinals. She suffered an injury that kept her off the court her senior season.

"It was unfortunate for Destinee that she missed her senior year with the injury," commented Coach Rich Holden. "I believe she would have had some big interest from several four-year schools as well as many top junior colleges. It probably helped us to be able to get in there on what we think to be one of the top players in the state of New Mexico. We are very pleased that she decided to become a Trojan and are excited about trying to build on a very successful season this past year. The thing that is most impressive about Destinee is how well her team did when she played both of those years. I feel she will really be a great fit due to her commitment to being a 'team' player."

Destinee will join the team this fall as they prepare for another run at a Region IX title.
