It was bombs away Saturday at Southside Park as the Lady Trojans defeated Otero College by the scores of 11-6 and 12-4 to take the season series from the Lady Rattlers. 

In game one, the Trojans trailed 6-3 after five innings when the bats woke up and the Lady Trojans were able to plate seven runs off home runs from Angelique Navarro, Kelly Kight, Ramona Fossum (grand slam), Ashley Burns and Ka'Zem Wood (2). Sophomore pitcher Chaunelle Penn pitched two scoreless innings for the win. 

In game two, Trinidad again saw them trailing 4-0 before the bats came to life with an eight-run third inning then tacked on three additional runs to secure the 12-4 victory. Penn once again came in relief and pitched three scoreless innings for the win. Hitting HR in this game were Angelique Navarro, Kelly Kight (grand slam) and Gabby Varela. 

Trinidad (21-20) improved to 13-9 in the Region 9 standings and currently sit in third place. Up next is a 4-game series April 23-24 against conference leader McCook Community College at Southside Park. This weekend will also be Sophomore Day and Parent's Day on Saturday April 23rd.
