Trojans open conference play with wins over McCook

RATON, N.M. –   Opening the home regular season schedule away from Southside Park didn't prove to be a problem for the Lady Trojans. The ongoing upgrades to the park in Trinidad are still progressing, so the Trojans began conference play across the pass in Raton, New Mexico, picking up two wins over McCook Community College by the scores of 8-0 and 12–4 this past Friday.

In the first game, freshmen starting pitcher Morgan Pantaleo kept the Lady Indians in check throwing a 4-hit shutout to improve to 3-0 on the year. Freshmen Gianna Paape homered in the contest and was 2-for-2 in the game with 3 RBI.

In the second game, Sophomore Aspen Dufour provided the fireworks with a grand slam home run to give the Lady Trojans an early 6-0 lead. Trinidad cruised the rest of the way for a 12-4 victory. Freshmen pitcher Marley Moralez picked up her fourth win of the season.

Earlier in the week, Trinidad picked up two wins over Luna Community College by the scores of 9-6 and 9-5 and wins over Colby Community College by the scores of 8-0 and 12-5.

The wins improved the Lady Trojans to 11-5 on the season and 2-0 in conference play. TSJC plays Lamar Community College Tuesday, March 10 for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. in Raton. If weather permits, on Friday, March 13, TSJC hosts Western Nebraska Community College for a doubleheader beginning at noon. These games are also in Raton at Lady Tiger Field. TSJC would like to thank the City of Raton and Raton High School for the use of the field and their hospitality the past couple of weeks.
