Cross Country Competes at Ted Castaneda Classic

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Saturday's Ted Castaneda Classic hosted by Colorado College at Monument Valley Park marked the second meet of the cross country season for the Trinidad State College men's and women's cross country programs, where the teams continue to try to solidify a spot at the upcoming 2024 NJCAA Championships.

 

Results from the men's 8,000-meter race:

Arthur Faroux – 25:41.3

Anthony Pena (Fr., Trinidad, Colo.) – 29:54.5

Luke Maxey (Fr., Austin, Colo.) – 37:17.4

Camden Fox – 37:58.4

 

Results from the women's 5,000-meter race:

Shania Chavez (So., Zuni, N.M.) – 26:15.7

Jadyn Jones (Fr., Farmington, N.M.) – 28:54.9

Kaylee Tucker (Fr., Rocky Ford, Colo.) – 28:57.7

 

Colorado College capped off the women's team scores with a perfect 15 points while University of Colorado at Colorado Springs finished second with 69 points and Colorado School of Mines at third with 70 points.

On the men's side, Mines took home the gold with 34 points while Colorado College finished second with 43 points and Fort Hays Tech Northwest finished third with 58 points.

The Trojans have a quick turnaround and head back to Colorado Springs for the UCCS XC Invite this Friday at Monument Valley Park.
