Jesang, Sado Lead Nation At First Meet

The Trojan track teams were in Pueblo, Colorado on Saturday to take part in the Dr. Dan Caprioglio Early Bird meet. CSU-Pueblo hosted the meet on a breezy day with 4-year schools from around Colorado, Kansas, and Oklahoma attending.
A field of 40 men took part in the 5,000 meters race where TSC's Jarred Baca placed 27th in a time of 16:17. After altitude conversion this time currently ranks Baca 12th in the country. In the women's 5,000 meters Vanessa Dominguez raced to finish in 14th place with a time of 20:09.91.
A stacked field of 4-year All-Americans lined up for the men's 1,500 meters. Ahmed Sado of TSC sat back in the pack through a fast first two laps before sprinting past a handful of runners in the final stretch. Sado finished 6th in a time of 3:51.24. After altitude conversion Sado leads the nation in this event by over six seconds. Sado returned to the track a few hours later in the 3,000 meters steeplechase where a runner from Pittsburg State opened up a large gap early on. Over the last 2 laps of the race Sado made up the 9 second gap to pull away to victory and post another national leading time. Sado's 9:03.80 time is over 30 seconds faster than the second best time in the nation at this point. Adrian Villarreal also took part in the steeplechase; his first time competing in the event. Villarreal's time currently ranks him 7th in the nation.
A trio of Trojans competed in the women's 1,500 meters where Sharon Jesang ran to a 7th place finish in an NJCAA leading time. Holly Tsosie and Tamsin Stewart followed Jesang across the line in 22nd and 29th place respectively.
Conner Dosmann had a stellar race in the men's 800 meters. A late charge pushed him past most of the competitors in his race where he placed 2nd with a time of 1:56.03. This is Dosmann's personal best time and currently sits 4th in the country after altitude conversion. In the women's 800 meters Kianna Quintana battled to a 6th place finish in a time of 2:34.75.
Ashley Lagat wrapped up the individual events for the Trojans in the 3,000 meters steeplechase. Lagat placed 6th in a time of 12:37.86; which currently ranks her second in the NJCAA.
The meet concluded with the women's 4x400 meter relay in which the Trojan quartet of Kianna Quintana, Tamsin Stewart, Holly Tsosie, and Sharon Jesang set a school record of 4:28.17 and finished in 6th place.

Trinidad State walked away from the first meet of the outdoor season with four National Qualifying times and three Nation Leading times.

Both teams will take to the track again in Grand Junction on April 1st.
