(EMPORIA, Kas.) – Track and Field has moved from the indoor season to the outdoor with the first meet of the season taking place in Emporia, Kansas on Friday. Trinidad State only had one participant for this first meet, freshman javelin thrower Emmett Reimer.
Reimer hadn't thrown the javelin since high school, but when he learned that Trinidad State was starting a track program he was quick to volunteer. A gunsmithing major at TSJC, Reimer launched the javelin 150' which was good enough for fourth place in his flight and 18th overall. It also has placed him into seventh place nationally in the NJCAA so far this season. The meet in Emporia featured many four-year schools from Kansas and Missouri, along with a few Kansas junior colleges.
Many current Trojan athletes in both running and field events will join Reimer as the track team continues to compete throughout the spring season. Athletes from both campuses will be competing in the blue and gold with coaches Lauren Martin and Aaron Miller leading the charge.
