RIVERTON, Wyo. – The Trinidad State College men's soccer program dropped two Region 9 road matches over the weekend in a 0-3 loss to Northwest College on Friday and a x-x loss to Central Wyoming on Saturday in Riverton, Wyoming.
GAME 1: Northwest College 3 Trinidad State 0
The Trojans gave up an early goal in the 13th minute of action before Northwest was able to add 2 more goals just before halftime. The teams battled to a draw in the second half as rhe Trappers walked away with a 3-0 victory.
Fabrice Nyonkah (Fr., Aurora, Colo.) had a stellar perfornace on the pitch striking 5 shots with 2 being on goal while teammates Lucas Vandji (Fr., Romaneche, France), Martin Kantorowicz (Fr., Paris, France), Luis Pacheco (So., Edwards, Colo.), and Jesus Flores (So., Farmington, N.M.) each took one shot for the Trojans.
In the goal, keeper Bryan Amezcua (So., Lakewood, Colo.) faced 11 shots on goal while recording 8 saves.
GAME 2: Central Wyoming 2, Trinidad State 1
The Trojans had a quick turnaround with a match against Central Wyoming the following day. Vandji scored the first goal of the match off an assist from Kantorowicz early in the 3rd minute of action. The Rustlers answered with goals in the 10th minute and the 40th minute to take a 2-1 lead at the break.
Again, the Trojans couldn't find the back of the net in the second half as CWC took a 2-1 victory over TSC.
The Trojans dominated offensively, taking 23 shots, 7 more than the Rustlers, with only 9 of them being on target. Vandji and Pacheco each tallied 5 shots with 3 on goal while Kantorowicz added 4 shots (2 on goal).
Amezcua faced 9 shots on goal while tallying 7 saves.
The Trojans move to 0-7-2 on the season and return home this coming weekend for the final home matches of the season against Western Nebraska on Friday at 1pm and Laramie County at 11am on Saturday. Both matches will be played at Central Park.
