Men?s Soccer wraps season in fourth

TRINIDAD, Colo. – Following a disappointing 2018 season, in which they failed to make the playoffs, the Trojan men bounced back to finish in the top four of the region standings with the opportunity to host a first-round playoff game against Western Nebraska. Unfortunately for the Trojans, that game was moved to Pueblo due to snow, and then things got worse when the fifth seeded Cougars scored the winning goal in overtime to end the TSJC season.

Despite the heartbreaking loss the Trojans had a successful season that saw them win two more games than in 2018 and move up five spots in the standings. Four Trojans were named to the Region IX All-Region squad. Sophomores Arseno Hamilton, Jahleel Cunningham and Akim Larmond and freshman Guilherme Caldas. Hamilton, the Trojan center back and free kick specialist had a great year with a pair of goals and a pair of assists. He was named first team. The speedster Cunningham, four goals and three assists and leading scorer Caldas, eight goals and seven assists, were named second team. Larmond, a goalkeeper had 57 saves on the season and was named Honorable Mention.

The Trojans will see a solid sophomore class moving on. Congratulations to these sophomores for their tremendous two years of soccer at TSJC - Eric Josue Estrada, Jahleel Cunningham, Arseno Hamilton, Kelton Boyd, Thiago Catao Navarro and Akim Larmond.

The Trojans will have a good group of 11 freshmen returning for the 2020 season.
