Trojans fall in semifinal

(TRINIDAD, Colo.) – Trinidad State fell to Otero in the Region IX semifinal matchup this past weekend in Denver. The Trojans went into the game at Metro State University's Regency Athletic Complex favored as the higher seed but fell 4-3 to end their season.       

Otero came out quick against the Trojans getting a pair of goals from Kevin Chavez to lead 2-0 after less than ten minutes of play. The Trojans got one back on a Ronaldo Watson goal in the 12' minute. Otero would score again late in the half to take a 3-1 lead into halftime. An early second half goal by Salvador Jimenez, assisted by Chavez, put it out of reach at a score of 4-1. The Trojans would get a pair of late goals from Biska Biyombo but the final was 4-3.

The Trojans finished the year 14-5 and were the regular season south champions. Trinidad will lose a host of sophomores including Biyombo who finished his career at TSJC with 36 goals and nine assists.
