Trojans move into first place

(TRINIDAD, Colo.) – Trinidad State hosted Central Community College from Columbus, Nebraska at Los Niños on Friday afternoon in a Region IX contest. The Trojans topped the Raiders 3-0 to move to 5-2 in region play, and onto the top of the Region IX standings with just one conference game left against Otero.

On Friday the Trojans scored midway through the first half on a beautiful header by freshman Ruben Ramirez. The 1-0 lead held until the 60' minute when Ronaldo Watson doubled it with an awesome strike to the upper right corner of the net. Moments later the Trojans would finish the scoring on an Akeem Prawl penalty kick. Shamar Jemison had another strong game in goal as the Trojans completed their second straight shutout.

The Trojans are 11-4 (5-2) with just two games left in the regular season. They face Otero on Wednesday, October 11 at 3 p.m. in their final sub-region match. The Trojans need a win to hold onto first place, and a loss could potentially drop them into third. TSJC fell to Otero 4-3 earlier in the season. On Friday, the Trojans will host Western Wyoming for sophomore day starting at 3 p.m. Both games will be played at Los Niños Park.
