
BORGER, Texas. – The Trinidad State men's basketball team fell in a tough 89-87 loss to Ranger College on the final day of the Borger Chamber of Commerce Classic in Borger, Texas.
The Trojans clawed back from an early 2-9 deficit in the first half to walk into halftime trailing Ranger 36-32. The Trojans were paced by Jack Kingswood (Fr., Perth, Australia) who scored 13 points in the half after knocking down 4 three balls and a free throw.
Lateef Patrick (So., Milton, Mass.) came alive in the second half after going 4 for 5 from deep to add 19 points and Amir Reaves (So., Syracuse, N.Y.) added 13 points off a perfect 2 of 2 shooting from three.
The Trojans shot 11 of 21 from deep in the second half and also outscored Ranger 55-53, however, came up short 89-87.
Ranger out-shot the Trojans after shooting 51.6% (33-64 from the field and 6-24 from three) for the game compared to 44.8% from the Trojans. Ranger also knocked down 17 free throws to the Trojans 10. TSC dished out 17 assists as a team compared to 9 from the Rangers.
Patrick, Kingswood, and Reeves paced the Trojans after finishing with 27, 24, and 20 points, respectively. Patrick let the Trojans with 7 assists and 7 rebounds.
Trinidad State has now lost 4 of its 5 games in 4 points or less this season as the Trojans move to 0-5 on the season. Next up, TSC will host the University of the Southwest JV on Monday, November 18th, inside Scott Gym. Game time is scheduled for 6 pm.
