Trojans Head to Elite-Eight

Trojans Head to Elite-Eight

Vs. Northeastern

After securing second place in the conference, the Trojans were able to face their next opponent on their homecourt.  The stakes were higher because it was the first round of the conference tournament and was an elimination game.  Win or go home.

To start the game, the Trojans were sharing the ball. Northeastern was off to a hot start and were destroying Trinidad's subpar defense.  The Plainsmen were getting most of their baskets off of second chance points, wide open 3's, and layups.

The Trojans were having some difficulty scoring and were lacking energy. They got down by as much as 11 points but were able to battle their way back. Javeon Tolliver hit a buzzer beater that allowed the Trojans to gain and maintain the lead going into the half.

The second half commenced with some shaky play from the Trojans. They were able to convert on their first basket, but then had some careless turnovers and Northeastern did not shy away. The Plainsman's best player, Obi Agbim, hit two 3's in a row. He single handedly, shrunk the lead to under ten. Coach Folda called a timeout to settle the players down. And it worked. The Trojans were able to hold on to their lead and become victorious.  Trinidad State wins their first game in the conference tournament.

Dejour Reaves led the way with an incredible stat line of 32 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Dylan West, who was battling in the post put up a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. He also added 7 assists. These stats are impressive to say the least.

Some other key contributors were, Javeon Tolliver (18 points), Robel Desta (blocking 5 shots), Jailen Bedford (scoring 11 points), and Olson Nicholson (contributing 6 rebounds).
