Trojans topple ranked Otero on Sophomore Night

Wow! Tuesday night was a game to remember.  For starters, it was sophomore night, so the crowd was larger and louder than normal, and the Trojans were taking on the #1 team in the conference (#18 in the country), Otero.  The last time they faced a top 25 they got the win (Trinidad beat Western Wyoming). This game was wild.  In the first half, there was little defense being played.  Otero was able to easily get the ball into the paint and give it to their bigs for easy baskets.  While Trinidad was scoring in a plethora of ways because they were sharing the ball well.  Trinidad did make some defensive adjustments throughout the game, but they stuck mostly with man.  They ended the half up 7.

To start the second half, the Trojans looked to be red hot, splashing 3's, but it was not all easy.  They faced adversity due to injuries and foul trouble. Otero was continuing to battle throughout the game and cut the lead to single digits several times.  The atmosphere was too much for Otero.  They could not handle the fans nor the Trojans.  Trinidad State took the win due to their energy, defensive effort, and selfness.

Looking Forward:

Trinidad looks to secure a home playoff game with a win and potentially the #1 seed, if everything falls into place.

Road Stretch:
