Trojans top NMMI in Home Opener

Trojans top NMMI in Home Opener

Vs. New Mexico Military Institute

What an ecstatic home opener!  Scott Gym was packed with plenty of friends and families from all over the country, New York, Texas, Pittsburg, and others from nearby.  Trinidad took on New Mexico Military Institute, and the game was a tough fought battle for both teams.  At first, the Broncos were getting to the basket much easier than the Trojans.  Trinidad was allowing one of their better players to get to the rim at will.  Later in the half, the Trojans made some adjustments and tied up the game.  They were playing unselfishly one of the plays was an assist by Cooper Peterson.  One time, during a fast break,  Jailen Bedford, dunked the ball, over two defenders, giving the Trojans some much needed energy, off of the bench.

In the Second half, both teams were allowing each other to get to the basket effortlessly.  Towards the end of the game, Trinidad buckled down and locked up the Broncos.  The game came down to the wire.  The Trojans were slowly able to pull away because Dejour Reaves and Dylan West combined for over forty points.  To secure the victory, Javeon Tolliver and Robel Desta hit some much-needed free throws.  Trinidad State defended home court, thanks to their fans.

Looking Forward:
