Trojans ready for second half success

The Trinidad State men's basketball team ran out to a 9-7 record in the fall and seem to have all of the pieces in place to make a run in the second half of the season. The Trojans are 2-2 in sub-region play with road wins at Western Nebraska and Eastern Wyoming. The losses came to Northeastern on the road 81-74 and an overtime heartbreaker to Laramie County 73-70.

Sophomore Chris Williams has had a tremendous year so far leading the Trojans in points, 18.5 a game, and assists, 3.3 a game. He is second in scoring in Region IX South. Treyvon Andres has been a force inside, averaging 6.3 rebounds and 15.1 points per contest. Transfer Yephnick Adelphonse has been strong as well averaging over 11 points and five boards.

The Trojans will face Air Force prep on the road this weekend before returning home to host Northwest Kansas Tech on Tuesday evening. They have split with both of those teams so far this season. Following Tuesday's contest with the Mustangs the Trojans will play twelve straight Region games, seven of those coming at home.

Men's Basketball January home games include:

1/12 – Northwest Kansas Tech – 7pm

1/19 – Lamar CC – 7pm

1/22 – Northeastern JC – 7pm

1/29 – Western Nebraska CC – 7pm

1/30 – Eastern Wyoming CC – 4pm
