Call of Duty Team Finishes Season as Runners-Up

The 2023 Spring Esports season was a short but exciting one for the Trinidad State Esports program. After a brief hiatus from competition in the Fall of 2022 the Trojans were back in competition this spring semester with a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 team that impressed during in season play and made a run at a tier 3 Championship in playoffs.

A quartet of Allen Allende, Elijah Figueroa, Scott Hubbard and Kobie Brady formed as the Call of Duty: MW2 team. The four took three wins during regular season play, never losing a single round of competition. Call of Duty: MW2 is a best of 5 series in which each round is a different style of gameplay requiring skill, tactics, team communication, and lightning fast reflexes. The Trojans won the first 3 rounds of each competition they competed in during the regular season.

In the playoffs the Trojans continued their winning ways until they came up against the Jefferson Community College Cannoneers who flipped the script in the playoff finals and beat the Trojan foursome in 3 close fought rounds.

Coach Kris Mugrage is excited about the momentum that has been created in the esports program this spring with the team's performances. The team will shift gears now to focus on other game-titles like Overwatch through the end of the semester.

Any individuals interested in joining the esports program at any level can reach out to Coach Mugrage.
