TSC names new Women's Basketball Head Coach

Alvin Nyangau has accepted the Head Coaching duties for the Trinidad State Women's Basketball program, replacing Jenny Hugins, who resigned in May.

Coach Nyangau comes to Trinidad State from Black Hills State University in Spearfish, South Dakota where he was the Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator for the Yellow Jackets. Prior to his time at Black Hills, Coach Nyangau served as an assistant at Western Colorado University, Northern State University and Upper Iowa University.

"I am thrilled to be the next Head Coach at Trinidad State College", commented Nyangau. "I look forward to building the Women's Basketball program into national contenders."

Nyangau has his master's degree from Upper Iowa University and his bachelor's from North Dakota State University.

"We are very excited to welcome Alvin to Trinidad State College", commented Athletic Director Mike Salbato. "I have only known him for a few days but already I am very impressed by this young man. He is attacking this new position with great energy, and I have no doubt that he will be successful. He is very impressive and has a strong coaching background, proving he has strong basketball knowledge in his past assignments. He has a tough path ahead of him as we do not have any returning students from the past squad, but I am confident in his recruiting abilities. We are excited to welcome Coach Nyangau to our coaching staff."

Recruiting for the 2025-26 season is underway. Contact Coach Nyangau at 763-777-2886 or at tsctrojans@trinidadstate.edu for more information.
