Wichert takes over at Fort Hays State University

Wichert takes over at Fort Hays State University

Trojan Head Baseball Coach Justin Wichert will be heading east to take the reins of the Fort Hays State University baseball program this coming fall. The Tigers, an NCAA Division II program located in Hays, Kansas, were 4-41 last season and will be looking to Wichert to turn things around for the program. Joining Wichert on the staff will be Trojan assistant coach Cory Bonner.

Wichert was at TSC for four years, one of those shortened due to COVID, posting a 112-83 record during that time. He led the Trojans to an Empire Conference title in his first year, and this past season the Trojans posted a 44-17 record while ranking third in the NJCAA with a team batting average of .388. The Trojans have fared well in the classroom under Wichert as well earning All-Academic Team honors for three of his four years.

"My time in Trinidad has been incredible," commented Wichert. "From the first day when our family showed up, we were embraced by Trinidad State College. Over the past four seasons I have developed many relationships that will last a lifetime. The players that have come through the program became family. We were able to watch many players grow on and off the field and moved many players along in their journey. The returning players off this year's team are a special group of guys. We look forward to following their success this year. Hopefully in the future we will be able to make a few FHSU Tigers."

The Trojan family wishes Justin, Cory, and their families the best as they head out to this next phase of their journey. You will all be missed!

Moving forward the Trojan Athletic department is searching to replace the coaching staff. If you know anyone who would be interested in applying, please direct them to the following link –
