The All-Region soccer awards were handed out in early November and five Trinidad State soccer players made the list. Alejandrina Rivas was named first team, Katia Rocha was second team, and Heather Thompson, Chelsey Nicol and Laeticia Rambeau were named honorable mention.
Rivas, a freshman from El Paso, Texas scored six goals for the Trojans this season and added three assists as a midfielder. Rocha played two solid seasons in the defensive half of the field for TSJC. She also came to Trinidad State from El Paso. Thompson, a sophomore keeper from Aurora, made 98 saves in the net for the Lady Trojans. Nicol, a sophomore from Rio Rancho, played basketball for the Trojans last year but decided to bring her talents to the pitch this year. She had one goal and one assist while playing mostly in the defensive half for the Trojans. Rambeau was injured for a good part of the season, but when she was healthy she made a serious impact on the TSJC attack from her forward position. She is a freshman from Wheat Ridge, Colorado.
The Trojans finished the year with a 7-8-1 record, falling to Western Nebraska in the first round of the playoffs. They will graduate five sophomores, but will have a strong lineup returning in the fall of 2016.
