Trojans top NJC and WNCC

Vs. Northeastern

Trinidad State took on a Northeastern, who they already beat once, but going up against a team twice is much more challenging.  Scott Gym was packed with students, and everyone was ready to go. To start the game, the Trojans looked to be flat.  The coaches thought it would be a good idea to change the defense up, but they were unable to stop Northeastern.  NJC was scoring at will and most of their points were coming from their best player and in transition.  The Trojans were down at half.  In the second, Trinidad State decided to stick with man and adjusted their coverage against Northeastern's best player.  After the Trojans were getting stops on the defensive end and converted easy transition opportunities on the offensive.  Trinidad Stated defended home court and won.

Vs. Western Nebraska

Trinidad State looked to go on a winning streak and their next opponent was Western Nebraska.  The Trojans normally struggle with back to backs, but this time was different.  Coming out for the game they looked really strong.  Their tactics on the defensive side of the ball were working.  On the offensive end, Western Nebraska was allowing them to run anything they pleased.  And the Trojans, were able to get their best players in scoring positions whenever they wanted to.  Trinidad State had a decent lead at the half.  In second, the Trojans had a major opportunity because one of Western Nebraska's best players was in foul trouble.  Trinidad tried to take advantage down low but could not.  Instead, they were coughing up the ball and turning it over to Western Nebraska.  The circumstances allowed Western Nebraska to hang in the game.  It came down to the final seconds and one of Western Nebraska's best players knocked down a step back shot to tie the game.  Coach Mike Folda, for Trinidad State, called out a play.  It was designed for one of their better players to get the ball in his hands.  Then there it was, the shot went up, and Dejour Reaves hit nothing but net.  It was a buzzer beater that Scott Gym will never forget.  The Trojans continue their winning ways and defeat Western Nebraska.
