Trojans Sweep Pair on Road

Trojans Sweep Pair on Road

Early Season Notes:

The Trojans can now breathe a sigh of relief, they played a tough early schedule, competing against 9 teams in 20 days.  This past weekend, Trinidad took on, Nation Wide Prep and Next Level Prep in the Otero Classic.

Vs. Nation Wide Prep:

The Trojans first faced Nation Wide on Friday, November 19th.  To start the Game, the Trojans looked slow, and Nation-Wide Prep took advantage making easy layups.  Coach Mike Folda made some critical substitutions, Evan McMinn, Jailen Bedford, Richard Swanson, Blake Cesar, and Tasontai Brown, giving the team a much-needed energy boost.  Nation Wide had no answers for the Trojans attack.  Trinidad went into the half with a double-digit lead.  In the second half, the Trojans were sharing the ball well, and Dejour Reaves was getting to the paint at will.  Javeon Tolliver was dishing out some passes, and Cooper Peterson was astute on defensive end, taking charges.  Tasontai Brown had an insane block which excited the bench.  While, sharing the ball well, and locking down on defense, the Trojans lead, soon grew to over 20 points.  Eventually, the team brought in the bench, so the starters could get some rest.  Trinidad State won.

Vs. Next Level Prep:

The next day, Trinidad State took on Next Level Prep.  Coming out, Next Level looked juiced up and ready to go.  The Trojans came out of the gate sluggish.  The starters were able to hang in there and bounce back because of Dejour's aggressiveness going to the basket.  Additionally, Robel Desta was able to get to the paint at ease, and Cooper Peterson was on fire from 3, in the first half.  Next Level hung in there by making open 3's.  The Trojans went into the half with a double-digit lead.  To start the second half, Javeon Tolliver was distributing the ball well and it was amazing to watch.  Coming off of the bench, Blake Cesar, came in and hit some 3's.  Later in the half, Jakob Houg, scored his first points of the season, and Richard Swanson had crowd pleasing dunk.  Most impressive, was Jailen Bedford's scoring off of cuts.  The Trojans were able to spread the wealth around and come back to Trinidad with a blowout win.  The Trojans are looking to continue their 3-game win streak as they start region play next week.

Looking Forward:
