Trojans move to 11-2 with win over FPC

(TRINIDAD, Colo.) – Trinidad State used a big first half to top non-region foe Frank Phillips College on Tuesday night at Scott Gym. TSJC took the lead 8-6 on an Issac Essein 3-ponter at the 16:11 mark of the first half and never trailed again, taking a 47-25 lead into the locker room at the break. Frank Phillips cut the lead to seven with ten minutes to play, but the Trojans would pull away for the 84-69 win.

Charles Henderson had a great game coming off the bench, putting in 16 points to lead the Trojans in scoring. Starting post Jesus Martinez and guard Trevell Cunningham each reached double figures as well, but every TSJC athlete that played scored in the game thanks to the unselfish play of the Trojans. Martinez and Tykeem Anderson each had six rebounds and Cunningham had four steals to lead the Trojans.

Trinidad State is now 11-2 on the season and will play their final game before the break on Saturday when they host Northeastern JC at 4 p.m. at Scott Gym.
