Trojan Shield Weekly Update: December 3, 2018

Greetings from Trojan Country!

Basketball tournament

The 83rd annual Trinidad State Junior College High School Invitational Basketball Tournament is in the record books. It was three days of entertaining basketball at Scott Gym, in which teams from ten area high schools competed. Teams representing Trinidad, Hoehne, Primero, Raton, Kim, La Junta, John Mall, Maxwell, Springer and Manzanola were all on hand to start the high school season off in style.

Lady Mustangs

Once the dust settled we had a defending champion in the boy’s division, as La Junta defeated tournament newcomers Kim 63-41 in the championship game for their second title in a row. In the girl’s division it was the same two schools with the opposite result, as the Lady Mustangs from Kim claimed the title in their first ever attempt defeating the Tigers 38-25. Quote of the Week -

"For me, winning isn't something that happens suddenly on the field when the whistle blows and the crowds roar. Winning is something that builds physically and mentally every day that you train and every night that you dream." - Emmitt Smith
