Trojan Shield Weekly Update: July 2, 2018

Greetings from Trojan Country!

Region IX Champions

The search for a new head coach to lead the Trojan baseball team has dominated activity in the athletic department for the past couple of weeks. We had a great pool of applicants to choose from and I am grateful to the people from TSJC and the city of Trinidad that gave input into the process. I am happy to say we will be able to announce the next head coach in the coming days. I am excited with this hire and feel like Trojan Baseball will be in great hands.

Desi

It was a busy week for the staff as well. Along with helping with the search for the next coach, the coaches are still busy recruiting. On top of that Desi Moreno attended the 2018 National Athletic Trainers Association convention in New Orleans. She was able to learn the latest techniques and make contacts with other athletic trainers. It is a great investment for the health and safety of our athletes, and I am sure she will bring a ton of ideas back with her. Coach Steve Swazo was in Denver all week at the Colorado Sparkler Softball tournament. It is a great event that features over 900 teams and is a fantastic recruiting tool. Coach Melissa Hardman was in Kansas at Wichita County High School. She ran a series of volleyball camps for students in the 4th through 12th grades.

We have amazing coaches and staff at TSJC. It is a pleasure to work with all of these hard working people.
